20 deaths each minute — how can that be!
Helping needy children is compelling when I consider the sheer number of them and the simple, simple illnesses that stalk them.
Every minute about 20 young children die, somewhere in the world. The causes are not always straightforward, but you could say they die from stalled progress in their country, opportunities that are missed and an unequal distribution of basic health services.
What’s truly sad is that about 14 of them die because of a well-known illness: measles, diarrhea, malaria, pneumonia, and malnutrition. These are conditions that are easy to cure if you have some simple medicines and people who know what to do. In fact, if they were living in the West, where health care is so easily available, they probably would be alive and well. In other words, millions of children die from conditions that almost never strike at kids in wealthy, Western countries.
The lives of these needy children are precious, and the skills and talents they could bring to the future are lost when they pass away. We want to help needy children and you can join with us to do that.
